Eastmoor, College Grove & Pinders Heath - Community Update

On Wednesday 19th August, officers from Wakefield East NPT hosted the PACT (Police & Communities Together) Meeting at Lightwaves Leisure Centre. The meeting was well attended by residents from the local area and a number of issues were raised and discussed, including:

Since the last PACT meeting:  
PCs Denton & Gleeson have demonstrated outstanding proactive policing whilst conducting targeted patrols in the Eastmoor area. Acting on local intelligence relating to drug supply, they identified and arrested several suspects and significant quantities of drugs have been seized and destroyed.

Following repeated concerns raised by local residents regarding suspected drug dealing and associated anti-social behaviour at an address on Pinderfields Road, PC Pickering attended the address to make enquiries, when he recognised an occupant as an outstanding suspect wanted for a previous Possession with Intent to Supply Class A Drugs offence. The suspect was arrested
and a search of the premises resulted in the finding of a substantial quantity of drugs and cash;  quantities consistent with street-level drug supply and represented a significant disruption to criminal activity within the area. The investigation ultimately led to both occupants being charged and remanded for Possession with Intent to Supply controlled drugs offences, removing those responsible from the community and preventing further harm being caused to vulnerable drug users and local residents.

We have also carried out several operations alongside colleagues from Roads Policing and the Police Intercept Team; a number of cars have been stopped, searched and arrests made in relation to the supply of drugs in the Wakefield Central area.
